Beaches, Bays & Little Towns of Santorini
June 22, 2017
// Red Beach + Perivolos Beach + Pyrgos + Ammoudi Bay + Fira \\
Day 2 in Santorini...and we weren't about to waste one second of it! After a full breakfast of eggs, fresh bread, olives, cheese, apple, pineapple upside-down cake, coffee and orange juice, all made by our Airbnb host's mother, we set off to the Red Beach on the southern coast of Santorini. This was probably the most underwhelming site of the day...tons of tourists (whom Taylor is very proud he didn't get in the picture of me below), seaweedy sand, and a rocky bottom to the water where you can swim :( ALAS! We didn't let it get us down and quickly moved on to Perivolos beach which was much more relaxing...with white sand, small cafes lining the "boardwalk" and beautiful, blue water for swimming/tackling me into -_-
Stuffed tomatoes and peppers at Perivolos beach
Riding to Pyrgos from Perivolos beach
The flowering vines in Greece made every ancient, run-down building look like an enchanting little village house from a Disney movie and I loved it! I'm now so inspired to bring lots of living plants into our new apartment...not sure Taylor feels the same way, but I'm working on it (anyone have tips on not killing fiddle-leaf figs??).
...the views on this island never failed to amaze me
Best little smorgasbord of foods I ever did eat. Thank you Franco's cafe! You and your suave staff made for the perfect afternoon pitstop.
Ammoudi Bay : FAVORITE PART OF THE TRIP! And now I know why they decided to film parts of the movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II
here! Ammoudi bay was so beautifully colorful with its red and black
stone walls, white and blue limestone buildings, and turquoise waters. I
wish I took more pictures, but honestly it's better to just enjoy in
person because photos don't do it justice.
Cliff jumping near Ammoudi Bay
...we were out there giggling like little kids because we had to pedal our legs so hard to get our necks out of the water so we didn't look like floating heads (: #doit4theblog
Blurry but so happy :)
Gorgeous Fira Town at night
A couple pictures from our last morning in Fira, Santorini before we took the ferry to Naxos. And that's a wrap for our Santorini trip! I miss it already and strongly believe it should be on everyone's bucket list...whether you're an adventurer, beach lounger, shopper or foodie, I can almost guarantee you will be awestruck by this incredible island!
p.s. Naxos pictures and a Greece video coming soon (:
